I am a 13 year old girl and I need to lose 15-20 lbs before this coming summer, and keep it off. I was thinking of joining a water aerobics class this fall.. will this help me lose the weight and gain some muscle?

well, i think it can help u gain some muscle, but about lose weight, i am not sure.
Yes it could. If you are consuming less calories than you burn off in a 24 hour period.
Any more help?

You have such a small amount of weight to lose that exercise alone probably won’t do the trick. It will help you gain muscle tone and maybe a small amount of muscle mass. You will be more fit. Your cardiovascular system will be in better shape.
Watching what you eat will be most important to whether or not you lose weight. Don’t starve yourself but you’ll need to eat fewer calories than you are burning off. A 2000 calorie diet for an active 13 year old girl is probably going to be a good diet.
Hey Nikki,
Water aerobics is ok, but if you really want to loose weight and gain muscle you need to lift weights and do some cardio to keep your metabolism up and burning fat. You could lift lighter weights with reps from 10-14, which would help you tone up, rather than put on size. but muscle also burns fat. mix up your workouts every 4-6 wks. I also take a protein shake everyday, with about 40-50 grams of protein, it is great fuel to help your muscles. But remember to take your shake within 30 min of working out for best results. I get my stuff from the link below, i have found their stuff to be the best in quality and price. Their forum page has some good recipes and discussion threads on working out. I love the choc flavor and the oreo smoothie is the best!
good luck.
